These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 1988, feature four local Deer Park residents standing in the drained Deer Park Swimming Pool, formerly located on the north-east corner of Sassella Park, Station Road, Deer Park.

The pool was closed in 1972 after major structural leaks rendered the facility unsafe and uneconomical to maintain. Its closure prompted considerable community concern, with local residents and several councillors campaigning for a replacement pool to be constructed on the same site. Despite these efforts, a new swimming centre was instead built on Taylors Road, Keilor Downs.

The former Deer Park pool was subsequently demolished, and the site is now used as overflow parking during events held at Sassella Park.
