These photographs, taken by The Advocate in June 1993, document the aftermath of an accident at the Anderson Road level crossing on the Bendigo Railway Line.
A car became stuck on the tracks and was struck by a freight train, splitting the vehicle in two. The driver was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries and extensive bruising, and a second vehicle was also damaged in the collision.
The images capture the scene immediately following the impact and the response efforts at the site, providing a visual record of an incident that later contributed to safety reviews and infrastructure upgrades along the corridor.
