Historical information

As iron was not as strong as steel, iron shells were shorter and did not hold as much gunpowder as steel shells.

Significance

This Mk I iron common shell is the only know Mk I shell from the armoury of HMVS Cerberus.

Cylindrical Iron shell with pointed nose.
