Bobbin lace, Early 20th Century

Historical information

Aunt Fanny gave 6 yds of her "Bucks pattern" lace to Gillian Davis for her 21st birthday. This lace is very difficult to make, as there is a thick thread to keep exactly the same tautness as the fine thread. Aunt Fanny was about 77 when she made this.

Significance

A fine example of womens hand craft from the late 19th and early 20th Century
