Councilor John Lester was elected as a member of council in 1886 until 1905.He was appointed as President for three terms 1888-89, 1895-96 and 1901-02.

Sepia photo of Councilor John Lester Esq.(oval). It is set third from bottom of left side of horse shoe shaped mount in light grey and has gold edging around photo.It forms part of collection of photos of all councilors for 1885-86.
