Trooper Sloan Bolton DCM enlisted in the 4th Australian Light Horse Regiment and served at Gallipoli and in Palestine. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his actions in capturing a German field gun at Beersheba on 31st October 1917. In the same action he was instrumental in preventing German engineers from destroying the wells.
