This white, cotton, lady's nightgown with embroidery and feather stitch is a fine example of the dressmaking skills of the women of the families of the pioneer settlers in Moorabbin Shire c1900

Significance

The Blackburn family were early settlers in Moorabbin Shire. The pioneer families had to be self reliant and made their own clothing and utensils. This is one of the many items that exhibit the skill and craftsmanship of the women in these families.
