Historical information
This book documents visitation fo seafarers to the Williamstown rest from 1945-47. The book appears to have been donated. The contents are signed in some instances by what appear to be whole crew. It provides an insight into the comments and also the practice of some seafarers who adopted other identities such as Churchill or Clement Atlee. The book predates the requirement to supply official ID and registration.
Significance
The book and register is one of the earliest to survive, only one or two others have survived as records of seafarers visiting the Missions. It is therefore significant as an example of a register and entries names, home ports , ships and commentary.
