This type of Chest of drawers was a common and practical piece of furniture 20thC . The 8 eight various sized drawers were suitable for the secure storage of small and large items of clothing, haberdashery, linen, Bouquets of lavender, bay leaves, camphor etc prevented damage by moths, silverfish and the strong wood deterred mice .
Significance
This item is one of many donated by Ms Carole Green whose family were early settlers in Moorabbin Shire.
Physical description
A french-polished mahogany wood chest of drawers often mistakenly known as a 'tallboy.' There are ornate carvings at the top drawers.
