Historical information
This report was commissioned by the Melbourne Parks and Waterways in 1996. It contains a history of the place and building, and garden and landscape features. There is a Statement of Cultural Heritage Significance.
Significance
Happy Hollow was occupied (and probably built) by Emmett Whatmough in 1893, and owned by John Cully McLaughlin. There are other family connections among the Greensborough district pioneers.
