Historical information
The intrenching tool of the Australian soldier was a British design. It is carried in an Australian leather infantry equipment blade carrier, commonly known as P15 equipment
The Australian version was made of two pieces, riveted together with three rivets. The depth of the handle (helve) collar is considerably thicker than the accepted British pattern of the same time.
