Toiletries, hair curling tongs, 20thC

Historical information

Curling irons, also known as curling tongs, create waves or curls in the hair. Clipless wands have no clamp, and the user simply wraps hair around a rod and squeezes the two parts together. The metal curling irons were heated on the fire or the stove and then the hair could be clamped between these 2 rods to create a curl in the hair .
