Historical information

The original Mechanics Institute Hall was built in 1905. It burnt down in August 1955 - and was later rebuilt in 1957. This was demolished c.2018 to make way for the building of the current Emerald Hub. This Minute Book (1942) relates to the original hall.

Significance

This book is evidence of the importance to the local community of the Emerald Mechanics' Institute as a place for commujnity gatherings of all types.
