Historical information

Pascall products were first produced as a joint venture between the Cadbury Brothers and James Pascall at the Cadbury factory in Tasmania, Australia.

Significance

The manufacturing of tins and containers with advertising or promotional packaging became widespread in the early 20th century. With the appearance of offset lithographic printing it became easier to produce quite decorative items that householders would feel comfortable placing on display on a kitchen or front room. Tins provided airtight resealable packaging that was important for keeping biscuits fresh, and ornamental tins were useful as containers. This item is a n example of an Australian manufactured decorative tin.
