Historical information

The Alfred Hospital initiated a Preliminary Training School in 1933 with Gwen Burbidge in charge of the training. From 1935, this textbook was a guide for many nurse teaching hospitals in Australia.

Significance

This book assisted teachers and nurses both, for many years.

The book is titled 'Lectures for Nurses'.
The book was written by G. N. Burbidge and printed in 1935. Gwen Burbidge was a tutor sister at Alfred Hospital at the time the book was published. She presented this autographed copy of her book, in 1954, to Sister Headberry who was also a tutor sister at the Alfred.
