Significance

The spoon is significant for its connection with the 1878 wreck of the sailing ship Loch Ard, which is registered on the Victorian Historic Shipwreck register.

Physical description

Unrestored tablespoons from the wreck of the Loch Ard. Both spoons have a flattened fiddle-back handle, with a thin stem or shank, flared collar, and a shallow rounded bowl two spoons in the group. The spoons are joined by a conglomeration of matter from the seabed.
