Historical information

Jurjevanje is a custom in Slovenia, when in Spring the celebration of the victory over the Winter brings people to the fields. A man is covered in greenery of the newly grown green leaves of birches, especially in the region Bela Krajina. The man hops around in the field, bringing hope for the good harvest.
