Ray Woollard studied at the Ballarat Junior Technical School (c1967) and the Ballarat Technical Art School/Ballarat Teachers' College between 1969 and 73 and then the Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne) 1974-75. He was studying at Ballarat Teachers' College when he completed 'Moose in High Healed Sneakers'. It became a greatly loved artwork on the Gillies Street Campus, and was moved the Mount Helen Campus in 1976 when the Ballarat Teachers' College became part of the Ballarat College of Advanced Education.

As an artist Ray Woolard working within the fields of painting, carpentry and sculpture.

This item is part of the Federation University Art Collection. The Art Collection features over 2000 works and was listed as a 'Ballarat Treasure' in 2007.
