Historical information
A 27 page typed book by John (Jack) James Whitty, written circa 1983, covering the period from April 1877 to c1986. John was born c1899. He gives some history of his parents and family as well as his own life, including his variety of jobs from his youth, through his World War 2 service on to his retirement years. These took him from Victoria to Queensland to the Northern Territory and back to Caulfield and Murrumbeena. He gives cameo stories working at and around Caulfield Racecourse, and also on Squizzy Taylor, when Jack drove taxis in the area, often picking up Ida Pender and dropping her off at the Palais.
