Historical information
William (Bill) Houghton 929 enlisted 24 August 1914 and was taken on strength in the 57th Battalion Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A3 Orvieto on 21 October 1914 and was sent to the Gallipoli Peninsular
He later fought in France with the 5th Battalion H company. Was promoted to Lance Corporal and returned to Australia 12 March 1918
