The first pharyngeal tube was manufactured in 1913. This is a very early example of a curved modification of the original design.

Physical description

Metal tube with a flat plate inside a rubber tube. The rubber tubing extends much longer than the inner metal tube. There is a hole cut into the side of the outer tube through which the inner tube can be seen.
