Historical information
The information on this document shows the inspiration and planning for the building of the aquarium at the Warrnambool breakwater. The instigator was Mr. John Doull, builders Fotheringham Constructions and architects, B. Auty and D Jenner. The Aquarium was opened in December 1971 by The Hon Ian Smith MLA. There were four separate exhibitions and galleries listed on the document. The Aquarium closed around 1998.
Significance
A local landmark in the latter part of the 20th century with the domes being easily recognized. The people involved in its construction were an important part of Warrnambool’s history.
