Historical information

Bailiffs are officers of the Court and as such play an important role in the overall administration of justice. This booklet has been prepared as a guide to Bailiffs of the County Court of Victoria in the performance of their duties. The principal functions of the Bailiffs are the issue and service of summonses, and verdicts and judgements given effect by the execution of warrants. In any case where Bailiffs are uncertain or unsure of what to do the Registrar of the Court to which they are attached should be consulted and their directions followed.
