This pistol was carried by COL James Lawson, then Officer Commanding A Squadron 4th Australian Light Horse Regiment when he led the Regiment in the charge at Beersheba on 31 October 1917. It is available to be drawn by the current Officer Commanding A Squadron of the Regiment to carry on ceremonial parades commemorating the charge.
