Instrument - Compass and case
Used by John Burke at the State Rivers Tatura in the 1960 - 1970's.
Compass: black and silver rimmed round container with removable lid. Bottom section has a clear glass with black rim covering the compass pointer and directions. Has 8 gold screws in black rim. Attached to rim is a hinged section with middle section see through. Opposite hinged section is another hinged section with sight on it. On outside rim of container under second hinged piece, is a black metal ring for holding. Bottom of the container has a flanged circle which attaches to a stand. Case: is tan leather with stitching around all edges. Two pieces, one large which holds the compass and the other is joined to bottom piece to form a lid. A leather strap is joined to the large section to hold the lid down and to make a carrying strap. Inside is red felt.

Certificate - Certificate of Gratitude, Certificate of Gratitude to Mr A Ransom
The certificate of gratitude was present to Mr A Ransom by the Greek Government. It was awarded to Australian servicemen who served in Greece against overwhelming number of German air and land troops.
Piece of white paper with black writing, enclosed in a brown wooden frame. Attached to document is a bronze medal with a stripped ribbon. One band of navy blue, one band of light blue and one band of navy blue.

Book, Why do you call me OMI?
The story is written by Ingrid Stephen, daughter of Hans Barth who was an internee in camp 1 during WW2. She wrote the story for her children as part of their knowledge and heritage, the history of how and why she arrived in Australia and her life in this wonderful country which has been so good to her and her family. Tells what her father went through from capture to release.

Album - Photograph album, Tatura Water Tower Mural Project
Book presented to the Museum from Tatura RSL showing the work that went into creating the Tatura Water Tower Mural. The Water tower on the north side, depict a full size picture of Sir John Monash in uniform. The south side of the tower depicts a thread of poppies. Sir John was the engineer who designed the water tower which was opened in 1912. A letter from Tatura RSL is in the book.
