Footwear - Child's shoes

Historical information

These shoes which would have been a child's first shoes are soft leather and possibly date from around the late 19th or early 20th century. We have no knowledge unfortunately as to whom they may have belonged. Baby's first shoes are often kept as a keepsake .

Significance

These little shoes have significance from a social and historic viewpoint.

Physical description

A pair of leather maroon shoes with front straps which fasten in the front with a button. The inside of the shoes is cream in colour. The upper leather is quite soft . The sole is a harder substance possibly leather. Both shoes look to have pin holes in the soles.

Inscriptions & markings

There is the remains of a small label inside one shoe.
