Spirits came in bottles sold at licensed premises either locally or in larger cities visited during a shopping expedition. The shape of bottles varied and were re cycled remaining the property of the manufacturer who paid for their return. History of Thomas Hardy & Sons Pty Ltd.

Physical description
Clear dark brown glass bottle used for storing whisky or rum. the base is oval shaped. The sides are straight three quarters of the way up then tapers quickly to the neck and then a lip near the opening. the fort & back sides have smooth rectangular shapes bordered by heavy embossing of grapes. On the sides heavy embossing of horizontal ripples. embossed front and back print at bottom and at base. Strip of metal around the bottle at the top of the neck (remainder of the seal).
