Significance

Auroscope: a medical instrument consisting of a magnifying lens and light; used for examining the external ear (the auditory meatus and especially the tympanic membrane)

Physical description

Housed in a black box with velvet lining: a black metal tube for holding batteries to power the globe, with screw base and top. Top holds a metal attachment with an eye piece and glass lenses. Box also contains three other attachments.
