Summary
A Tale of a Tub is a satire that was published anonymously in 1704. It combined the 'Tale' itself, a satire on corruptions in religion and learning, with the mock-heroic 'Battle of the Books' and a 'Discourse Concerning the Mechanical Operation of the Spirit', which ridiculed religious enthusiasts. The tale follows three brothers who represent different branches of Christianity. The volume in question is the Routledge reprint. Project Gutenberg's transcription of the 1889 Routledge 'Carisbrooke Library' edition contains The Tale of a Tub and The History of Martin.
