Summary
Heart of the World is a lost-world adventure set in Mexico. Don Ignacio, the last heir of the Aztec line, inherits half of an emerald that identifies him as successor. He travels with his English friend, James Strickland, guided by the beautiful Maya, to the City of the Heart. Before reaching the city, the party faces many challenges, including a mine cave-in, a gunfight with killers and a shipwreck. There they meet Zibalbay, who claims to be the priest and ruler, and his daughter, Maya. Chapter titles such as ‘The Sacrilege’, ‘The Marriage of Maya’ and ‘Our Flight and How it Ended’ point to a tragic ending.
