Historical information

David Gordon Paten was born in 1917 in Orbost, Australia. He was the son of Evelyn Paten ( nee Roberston) and Thomas Paten who came to Orbost in 1893 and in 1907 began growing fancy bean seeds for H. James. He built the first private flood levee bank in the district. (ref Mary Gilbert)
The book was edited by Kate Greenland on behalf of her grand-father, David Paten.

Significance

This book of memoirs is a valuable reference for research into the early 20th century social history of Orbost.
