Plates such as this were a souvenir of a trip or holiday. Greensborough was a popular picnic destination in the mid 20th Century and this style of souvenir would have been a popular purchase. The Greensborough pool in the Plenty River was opened in the 1930s, so the plate was manufactured after this.
