Historical information
In 1901 Andrew Anderson was President of the Ballarat School of Mines. At the height of its world wide fame the annual report states:
'That the public recognises and appreciates the importance of the School, is evident by the large additions to the class rolls - (many of the students have come long distances, from England, India, South Africa, new South Wales, Queensland, West Australia, South Australia and Tasmania,) which give ample proof, if such were necessary, of the wide spread reputation of the School.'
