Extract from The Argus, Monday July 9th 1888 - Griffiths Point Saturday at a Public meeting of the inhabitants of Griffiths Point, held this afternoon to consider the most appropriate name for the newly proclaimed township there. It was unanimously decided on the suggestion of Mr Fraser that it should be called San Remo.
