The Roper family lived and farmed in the Kiewa Valley. They may have sent their son, Bert, to C.G.S. (Caufield Grammar / Camberwell Grammar School).

Physical description

Glass cover of a Black & White Photo of a boys football team with 'V' jumpers, white shorts and 2 footballs with 'C.G.S / 1909' written on them. The photo is attached to an embroidered cotton backing allowing the photo to be seen through an oval shape cut out in the middle. Around the embroidery is a brown wooden frame. The embroidered piece is backed by masonite with the framer's name attached.

On the back of the photo, handwritten: Dear Mother / Wishing you a very / happy birthday on the 29th October / From Bert.
