Subdivision of Summerlands commenced in the 1920s with 12 large allotments created, along with features such as a roundabout and cypress trees. Between 1927 and 1931, 227 new blocks were created, and from 1929 to 1940 there was a nine-hole golf course on what is now the Penguin Parade car park.

Henry [Harry ] is the son of John Blake and Ethel May Cleeland. He farmed near Surf Beach estate and lived at Woolamai House.

Captain Reid served as a Councillor of the Phillip Island and Woolamai Shire in 1875. He was the first Trustee and President, as well as being instrumental in establishing a school at Rhyll on block 13 about 1870. He died in 1891 at the age of 75. He was an early resident of Rhyll and 1st President of the Phillip Island Cemetery Trust

Title of property shows the property was owned by Emily Henty in 1894. " Charman Dene" was Alfred Herbert and Edith Blanche Holdsworth’s holiday house. The property was sold following Alfred Herbert’s death in 1929. Mrs Champion later owned the property. Charmandene Guest House was located on the beach front along Lover's Walk. It was relocated in the 1980s to Osborne Road in Cowes , where it still stands.

Photos taken by an unknown pioneer aviator researched by Kevin O'Reilly who has written a book "Flyers of Time" on pioneer aviation. Photos show the Island and San Remo prior to development and before the bridge was built from the mainland.

The racehorse 'Wollamai" [ or Wollemi ] was bred and trained on Phillip Island by John Cleeland on Phillip Island. It won the Melbourne Cup in 1875. John Cleeland walked the horse to Melbourne to compete.
