Cream Can

Historical information

Milk and cream were stored in steel cans for transportation to stores or local dairy companies.

Significance

The dairy industry is and ha been one of the major industries in the Kiewa Valley. This cream can belonged to the Creamer family who owned and operated a dairy farm in the Kiewa Valley.

Physical description

Straight sided steel can with movable ring handles at the top on each side.The lid is slightly curved with a hinge on one side and securing clasp on its opposite side with a moveable ring handle attached (to the securing clasp).A plaque is attached on the top with an inscription. It appears one plaque has been removed from the lid and one from the side of the can.

"A. C. Bryon, Baranduda" on plaque on lid.
