Offenbach's Le 66Shoestring Opera Melbourne presents Offenbach's lesser known comic opera Le 66 in English, accompanied by the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra at the Comedy Club.
Two travelling singers from Tirol meet a peddler on the road near Stuttgart. Frantz thinks he has won the lottery with his ticket 66 and goes on a spending spree, but discovers that it is actually 99. But all ends well, when it turns out the peddler is actually their rich relation, wanting to give Frantz a lesson in the dangers of extravagance.
