This document certifies that Serge Worland has obtained his Merit Certificate which was a level which for many children was the end of formal schooling . It was achieved at grade 8 level , the current year 8 level. This was obtained at Warrnambool High School in 19th November 1926. Serge Worland was the son of Henri Worland who was Warrnambool Town Clerk from 1918 until 1948 and the Worland family has many connections in the district. Serge was a bank clerk who died as a result of a motor vehicle accident on March 29, 1935.

Significance

This is a common object but with a link to one of Warrnambool's families has historic and social significance.
