Entrance to Stillwell Valley (at edge of Emerald Lake). Graham and Helen Stillwell (now Swaine) with Aunt Gwen Stillwell and friends. Grandfather, Bertie Stillwell opened Emerald Lake in 1941.
Bertie Stillwell was a Councillor with Fern Tree Gully Council. Stillwell's Deviation is located off Avons Rd, Avonsleigh.

Dr. Murphy was a popular identity in Emerald and its surrounds.
The sketch is significant because it gives a rough image of Dr. Murphy. After he died, a medical scholarship was created in his name for a young, local, first year undergraduate in Medicine.

The collection is socially significant as Gus Ryberg OAM was a significant figure in Emerald community and was pivotal in establishing the Emerald Museum
Personal coin collection, compiled by Gus Ryberg, comprising several hundred coins from around the word.
The stove was the property of John Biggart, who lived in Avonsleigh. He travelled Victoria from 1920 to the 1940's. The stove was used at a work camp site.
Brass base containing the kerosene fuel tank, above which rises a burning tube and burner assembly. The steel top rings are held above the burner by 3 support legs. To light the stove, a small amount of alcohol is put into the spirit cup, just below the burner to preheat it. Kerosene was then vaporised, mixed with air and it burns with a soot less, blue flame.

A mahogany engineers' set created prior to 1900. It was used by Allison Osborn Burrows, a chartered engineer, post-1900.
Mahogany instrument box with brass hinges, lock, and name plate. No key. Insert tray covered in blue velvet lining pressed into grooves to hold each instrument. Nickle silver instruments. Some items missing their bone handle. Base of box contains ruler, protractors. Lid has hidden compartment behind it, containing Japanese issued currency note from World War II.
Owner's label pasted inside lid, reading "A.O. Burrows, Esq. A.M.I. E. Aust., Chartered Engineer (Australia), 9 Kendall Street, Pymble, N.S.W."

Original steel engraving by J.C Armytage after John SkinnerPROUT (1806 - 1876). Prout was born in Plymouth and was a member of the New Watercolour Society in London, he latter emigrated and lived for some time in Sydney and Hobart before returning to England. Published in "Australia... Illustrated with Drawings by Skinner Prout, N Chevalier, etc. by Edwin Carlton Booth F.R.C.I. (printed 1873-76) Virtue & Co., London, and as part work from about 1873. Steel Steel Engraved antique print some with marking to the margins. Image 12 x 18 cm. John Skinner Prout (1806 - 1876) was an architectural illustrator and painter. Born in Plymouth and nephew of Samuel Prout (Topographical illustrator, drawing master and colourist). John specialised in similar subjects to his uncle but was practically self-taught. He was elected a member of the New Watercolour Society on his return from Australia in 1849, where he visited Sydney and Hobart. He had already forfeited his membership of the NWS in 1838 by being overseas. John settled in Bristol after 1849 whewre he became a good friend of W.J. Muller (artist). He later moved to London where he died, at Camden Town on 29th August 1876

Thomas Baines joined Augustus Gregory as official artist and storekeeper, in the expedition across northern Australia between 1855-1857 sponsored by the Royal Geographical Society to evaluate the northern area of Australia for suitability as a colonial settlement. The Baines River was named after him.
The item is socially and artistically significant as it is a very early image of Northern Australia.

Professor Ernest Edgar Kurth of the University of Tasmania, invented a faster, simpler and cleaner way to produce charcoal on a continuous basis during the second world war. The charcoal was used to produce a combustible gas in motor cars, as a substitute for petrol, which was heavily rationed. The first batch of charcoal was produced in February 1942 and continued until the end of the war. Wood from stringybark trees was cut into lengths and fed into a kiln which converted it into charcoal.
The Kiln is located on Beenak Road, 7km north of Gembrook. It has great historical significance, particularly as an alternative supplier of fuel during the second world war. It is a State Registered facility, managed by the Friends of Kirth Kiln and the park is managed by Parks Victoria
