Historical information

Various ports in all parts of the world would provide a photographic service documenting ship crews and passengers. The crew members in this photograph would have primarily worked in the engine rooms of the Steam ship Virgilia.
Names of the crewmen: Trevanna, Jones, Jeffries, Mathews, Gunther, Dingle, O'Callaghan , Finn , Whittaker, Duffey, O'Leary, Furlong

Significance

Appears to have been presented to the Mission possibly in appreciation of the services these crewmen had used or events they had attended. The photograph is valuable as all the crew featured are named with surnames and may crosslink with documented records of their visits also held in the archive collection.
