This is a set of four photographs featuring WO1 Darby Munro being farewelled by CAPT Gary Kenney and members of Lithographic Squadron at Fortuna, Bendigo in circa 1978. WO1 Munro served in the Australian Army from 1956 to 1986. This was probably his last day at Fortuna before the next posting in his career.

The card was produced by the Australian Comforts Fund for Christmas and New Year 1918 - 19. The first illustration is of the Capture of Villers-Bretonneaux on 8th August 1918. This is a copy of painting by War Artist Capt. Will Longstaff. The second illustration details the capture of Hamel on 4th July 1918. A. Pearse was the War Artist who produced this scene. Part of the Robert H. Baron, No. 3596, and Cooper Collections. See Catalogue No. 1981P for details of Baron's service.

1. Jacket, woollen. Four breast pockets. The top two pockets are held shut with a button. Has woven WO1 metal badges. There are four brass buttons holding the front shut. It has a detachable collar system (white). The collar badges are a laurel wreath, topped with a crown and 2 crossed swords in the centre. The motif on the buttons is similar, but, without the wreath it has a ribbon bar with six medals. 2. Trousers, woollen. Black with white stripe down each leg. 3. Swagger stick. Dowel with woven leather cover.

This photograph was taken on the Portico of the Soldiers Memeorial Institute Pall Mall Bendigo. The man in the photo is "William James Norman Smart" known by all as Norm. He was a legend in Bendigo RSL Appeals having raised near $250,000.00 over the years. His selling spot was Coles Central where he sat for a fortnight each Appeal, ANZAC and Poppy. He had a loyal clientele who only bought their tokens from Norm. On ANZAC day especially he would come into the kitchen at the Soldiers Memorial about 5.00am and sort his tray out while others there were making the Rum and Coffee. He would then go out and walk among the people before the Dawn Service selling tokens. Norm was still selling tokens after he turned 90 years. he retired from all Volunteer work in the Bendigo RSL in August 2015. Refer Cat No 8131.2P for Norms RSL history. Norm enlisted in the CMF on 5.11.1941 No V245294 in the 38th Battalion, the unit later moved to WA by train 30.3.1942, he transferred to the AIF No VX88596 on 31.7.1942, they entrained back to Vic on 19.1.1943, then entrained again to the NT 0n 18.6.1943, transfer to the AIF No VX88596 on 8.8.1944 in the 11th Aust Infantry Battalion, embark for New Britain 25.11.1944, embark from Rabaul for Aust on 8.1.1946, discharged from the AIF on 5.2.1946.

The building is the Soldiers Memorial Institute Pall Mall Bendigo. The period of the painting is between the years 2008 and 2016 after the remodeling of the Forecourt and the major renovations to the building 2016 - 18. This is a set of six photographs of Lithographic Squadron personnel with Defence Cooperation Program (DCP) students at the Army Survey Regiment, Fortuna Villa, Bendigo Victoria, 1985. These informal and formal group photos were taken on the day of a CO’s Parade. Litho Squadron provided printing and photographic reproduction to the two DCP students. RA Svy also provided technical training to DCP students in map production skills such as, cartography and photogrammetry at the Army Survey Regiment and the School of Military Survey, Bonegilla. The Australian Defence Force over several years sponsored international students from counties such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. It is not known which South Pacific country these DCP students came from.

Princess Mary gift box was intended to be distributed to all members of the British Armed Forces at Christmas 1914, during WW1. It contained various gifts including chocolate, cigarettes and tobacco.

Gold colour tin with ornate design on front, with an image of Princess Mary within a circle and laurels. There is a stylised "M" on either side. Along the outside is written "Imperial Brittani cum". On top centre and around the edges is the name of various other allies.

Inscribed "Christmas 1914".

Scarf was a souvenir of Churchill's time as Prime Minister of England during WW2.

Scarf with various images of Sir Winston Churchill in his role during WW2. Images on both sides. Predominately brown with white backgrounds with images in black, yellow and red. Also written onto the scarf are extracts of some of his speeches.

Silk postcard from a soldier in France. Flags would suggest WW1.

1. Pale cream colour postcard with an embroidered front in the form of a folded envelope. On top part is embroidered a red and green bunch of flowers. On the bottom part is embroidered a message. Inside the pocket is a card. 2. The card has a message surrounded by 8 shields with the flags of the various allies in WW1.

1. Embroidered in "To my dear Daughter". 2. On card is "Hearty Birthday Greetings" and various flags.

Silver War Badge (WW1) No. A.35027 belonging to "Herbert Charles Nott" No. 228. See also Cat No.S 7816.4 for H.C. Nott's service record. Part of the Cooper Collection.

1. Circular metal badge with the words "For King and Empire" and "Services Rendered" around the rim. Voided cypher and Kings Crown (George V) in the centre. Reverse has a hinged vertical pin. Badge contained in dark grey coloured cardboard box. 2. Base of grey coloured box. Number of badge on white paper attached. Square in shape. 3. Lid of grey coloured box. Square in shape.

This is a British pattern peaked cap. It is of black wool. The peak is black leather. It has a red band around the crown and a thin red piece if piping around the top of the brim. Badge - a band of Oak leaves, a Crown at the top with two crossed swords in centre of Oak leaf wreath.

Inside the plastic liner is a ticket with this on it:- A3/92041 CAPT. D.F.V. Hufer. Stamped underneath leather hat band is B.W.^D. ?04.
