P. S. Rodney , owned by Permewan Wright, was used to transport non Union strikebreaking shearers to the Darling River sheep stations , during the later 19th century. Union shearers burnt it to the waterline. This shows the remains of the P. S. Rodney.

Significance

This photograph is very significant as it was one of the events of the Australian shearers' strike of 1891-1894. When unionised shearers burnt the P. S. Rodney for carrying non-Union shearers to the Darling river sheep stations.

Physical description

Black and white photograph from the water, of the remains of the P. S. Rodney , showing,(not very clearly) the iron "skeleton" on the bank amidst a mess of branches. A piece of bark pierces the water at right and the bank of the river fills the left of the view.
