Building classified B by National Trust.
Significance
Customs houses, of similar design, were built along the Murray river to collect taxes on goods transported from N. S. W. to Victoria. The taxes were collected up until Federation in 1901. The Victorian railways used it as an office until about the 1960 when it became a private dwelling. The Customs House at Echuca is now owned by The Port of Echuca and has been used to house a wine tasting businesses, cafe and local produce retail and art gallery.
