All from Bendigo District they volunteered to go in an attack with/Albert Jacka V.C., M.C. and Bar No,465, D Coy 14th Batt. AIF on/Gallipoli in May 1915. In this attack Jacka won the first Australian VC./ In WW1 Howard was wounded 3 times in the attack. He survived and/ in 1917 as a Corporal he was taken P.O.W. at Bullecourt.
