This photograph shows a punt (with a dingy tied to it ) moored to the wharf structure on the Murray river at Echuca. Punts were used to transport people and goods from one side of the river to the other.
Significance
Punts were used to cross the Murray river at many spots before bridges were built. Henry Hopwood set up his initial business with punts across the Murray and Campaspe rivers, charging people, animals and vehicles to cross the rivers.
