Historical information

The Anglican Church of the Holy Cross was situated in Maddison St., Mt Beauty. It was dedicated on Saturday 18th December 1965. The Rector was The Reverend Colin G. Burgess Th.L.

Significance

Mt Beauty was created by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria during the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. During the late 1960's the town was handed over to the Bright Shire and its building sold.
A plaque was unveiled in the porch to commemorate the Dedication of the Church by Mr H. H .Williams, the chief engineer of the Kiewa Scheme.
