Historical information
The first school in the Emerald District No.2110 opened with 25 students in 1879 in a rented room on Avon Rd, East Emerald (now Avonsleigh). That school was closed in 1909 and the Emerald State School No.3381 was opened in the Emerald township. In 1915 a permanent school was built in Heroes Avenue where it remains today.
