In 1944, while on survey duty off New Guinea, in preparation for a landing by infantry,
H.M.A.S. Whyalla was attacked by by Japanese aircraft. This is a portrayal of the attack, painted by a member of the crew
it was presented to Lara R.S.L. in March 1981 by Lindsay Dunsmuir, also a member of the crew.
