Physical description

Cast iron boot last - used for making shoes and boots and repairing them. The cast iron boot last provides the bootmaker with the ability to place the boot upside down over the last and drive shoe tacks into the leather soles. Where the tack was set well into the leather, hitting the cast iron would cause the tack to bend over, clinching the tack and securing the sole or heel on the boot or shoe;
